GRADING POLICY
Quality of Work (Tests) – 60%
This includes teacher assignments, quizzes, writing assignments, photography, proofreading and layout/design. Meeting Deadlines: Late work causes problems for everyone.
Time on Task (participation in class)– 40%: An effective staff is work oriented, spending their time on the task at hand or helping others; wandering the halls; socializing and disrupting the work of others is unproductive.
Absent? - Work is due TBD days after you return from an absence. No credit is given if work is not turned in within this window of time.
Late work - 20 points will be deducted for each day late. After one week late no credit will be given.
Absent for a Test? - You are to make the test up the day you return to school. All study guide material is on this website.
Overtime (O.T.) –
YEARBOOK
- Yearbook editors are required to work at least four hours outside of class per six-weeks to meet deadlines.
- Section editors and staff members are required to work at least two hours outside of class each six weeks.
- This can be accomplished after school from 3:30 – 4:15 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays in our classroom or outside of class by signing up to take photos of scheduled events and reporting/interviewing.
- You may send in story drafts/notes via email to nikki_dowd@roundrockisd.org. I will place your drafts in your “file” on the server.
NEWSPAPER AND NEWS MAGAZINE
- Newspaper editors are required to work at least two hours outside of class per six-weeks to meet deadlines.
- Staff members are required to work at least one hour outside of class each six-weeks.

- You will be using googledocs to write your articles this year. You will need to set up a gmail account during class time if you do not already have one.
BROADCAST JOURNALISM
- The Jag News staff meets on Wednesdays after school to record the news for Thursday..
- We meet from 3:30 – 4:15 in the multimedia room.
- Teachers send in announcements via email to nikki_dowd@roundrockisd.org.
